If you have not heard of Rachele Carmona, you need to go visit her site, Cypress Textiles, and marvel over her glorious crochet creations. She has a wonderful way of mixing color, shape, and texture to create some amazing blankets. Every other year, Rachele hosts the Vibrant Vintage Crochet Along (VVCAL), and the 2022 version was epic. This year the theme was the cosmos, and every week a new hexagon pattern was released. Rachele provides videos for each motif as well as layouts for a wide variety of yarns. The CAL this year was 20 weeks, including joining the hexagons and adding a border. I thoroughly enjoyed making all of the hexagons as well as learning a new joining technique called “pull loop through join as you go” (PLT JYAG). I finally got the border on this blanket a few days ago, and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. My layout is a “moody” color wash rainbow, and I love it so much! You can see my cat friends helping me with the layout below!
Pattern: Vibrant Vintage Crochet Along 2022 (using narrow PLT join)
Yarn: Scheepjes Stonewashed in various colors
Hook: I used two sizes (3.0 and 3.5 mm). The smaller one I used on the “plain” motifs, and I used the 3.5 mm size in all other places.
